Policy Builder Overview

Overview

Maximize security for your digital assets by using the Policy Builder to create policy rules that dictate how specific actions can occur. Policy rules are customizable security measures that you can tailor to best fit the unique needs of your enterprise. You can also use the Policy Builder to automate processes, streamlining your operations and reducing the risk of human error.

When you create a policy rule, you identify a specific scenario and the action required for it to proceed or an automatic resolution. For example, you can create a policy rule that requires a second approval on specific transaction types before they can execute, or you can create a policy rule that automatically approves or denies a transaction if it meets certain criteria.

You can create the following types of policy rules:

  • Destination - Create policy rules based on the destination address in a withdrawal.
  • Initiator - Create policy rules based on the who initiates a withdrawal.
  • Percentage of Wallet Balance - Create policy rules based on what percentage of a wallet balance is withdrawing in a transaction.
  • Threshold - Create policy rules based on what how much is withdrawing in a transaction.
  • Velocity Limit - Create policy rules based on how much is withdrawing from over a certain time window.
  • Webhook - Create policy rules based on the webhook responses.

Note: Policy rules for withdrawals apply only to transactions that involve BitGo. Recovery transactions that use the user key and the backup key bypass any policies you may have in place with BitGo. For details, see Set Up Wallet Recovery Wizard.
